He continues his training with regular visits to Japan where he studies under Grandmaster Masaaki Hatsumi and other top level instructors. Hatsumi Sensei runs the International Bujinkan Dojo which the Bujinkan Bushigokoro Dojo is fully licensed to teach under.

Sensei Brooks is the highest ranking instructor of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu in all of the Chicago suburbs. In addition, the Bujinkan Bushigokoro Dojo is the only dojo in McHenry County that teaches authentic ninja and samurai martial arts. It has been our honor to train with and host many of the top martial artists in the world.

In addition to the Bujinkan arts, Sensei Brooks has also trained in Jeet Kune Do, Tai-Chi-Chaun, and Boxing.

Personal Viewpoint

Sensei Brooks views training in ancient Japanese martial arts as something that brings benefits far beyond self defense. He takes great satisfaction in witnessing the improved self-esteem that can result from increases in physical and mental strength and confidence. He values the whole person. His students are like family to him. He believes that the process of training is almost as important, if not more important, than the goal of self defense.
